Racha in 3 days

  • Early departure to exploring Racha province located Nortern from Kutaisi, Western Georgia, surrounded by Racha – Lechkhumi Mountains and great Caucasus. This picturesque area is known as a birthplace of Khvanchkara red semi sweet wine, so much respected by Georgians at family parties and celebrations.
    The first stop will be in old Capital of Kartli -Iberia Kingdom – Mtskheta, known as a political and cultural center from 3rd century BC. Take turn to the South, pass rich agricultural lowlands of Kartli, and get in beautiful landscapes of Imereti through Rikoti tunnel dividing East and West parts of Georgia. Turn right nearby Terjola village, pass Tkibuli reservoir and drive up over Nakerala pass to the Shaori Lake, famous for beautiful panorama and plenty of fish. Visit magnificently carved Nikortsminda church, built by Bagrat III in 10th century and Barakoni church. The rest of the day will be spent in Oni -the center of Racha province. The area is full with more then one million years old grottos with pale ontological remains. Overnight at the local guesthouse in Oni. Morning excursion to old Synagogue built in19th century. Stroll through the vineyards and winery. Home cooked lunch & wine testing at local family in village Khvanchkara will give you the real idea of Georgia and Georgian hospitality. On the way back to Tbilisi optional visit to Ubisi church of 9th century with a 14th century frescoes decorated by famous Georgian painter Damiane.
